Whether you chafe, sunburn, shave, or work-out hard, bluerub is here for you. Our products protect your skin, help you perform at your best, and recover faster than ever.
Love of cycling, running, swimming, skiing, climbing and just getting out and moving. When looking for natural body care for athletes, Dave Veldhuizen found that there were none he loved. Until he tried bluerub. He loved these products so much that he bought the company and moved it to Loveland, Colorado where he runs, cycles, skis and moves.
Whether you run 100 miles a week, cycle around the block, or win an IRONMAN(r), bluerub is on your side.
bluerub is a body care line designed specifically for athletes. Using plant-based ingredients to deliver good-for-skin solutions to common problems athletes face every day. Friction, sore muscles, sore feet, cracked lips, and all in between.
We’re proud of our natural body care products and of the people who make them. We collaborate with experienced cosmetic formulators in an FDA registered facility, who source ingredients with extreme care.
Our products contain ethically sourced natural ingredients like macadamia nut oil, organic aloe vera, and tulsi essential oil. We carefully select man-made ingredients to deliver superb performance at a reasonable price.
All our products are manufactured for us in Portland, Oregon.

From day one, we made decisions our customers and team members can be proud of. We ensure our vendors never test on animals (and we don’t either). Almost all our products are suitable for vegetarians and vegans — we have beeswax in just two products. We have never used plastic microbeads, synthetic fragrances or artificial colors. Our products do not use phthalates, parabens, SLS or any toxic chemical. We work hard to chose sustainable packaging and shipping — and are working every day to find better solutions to this global challenge.
OUR VALUES
We value resiliency, transparency, sustainability, and courage.
We want to do the right thing, every time, and when we make a mistake, we own it and fix it.
We want to earn your trust and work to keep it.

Raised in Northern Colorado, just 34 miles from Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP), Dave played many conventional team sports, including basketball, baseball and tennis. But with RMNP and the outdoors beckoning, as a teenager he started downhill skiing, XC skiing, backpacking, fly fishing and rock climbing. Mix in some road cycling and mountain biking and you have the stew of Dave’s teen years.
Dave moved to Eugene, Oregon in 1988 to return to school and was introduced to Track Town USA. He kept skiing and cycling and climbing but at this point also added running into the mix regularly running 5 and 10Ks and graduating to half and full marathons in addition to trail running.
Dave moved back to Colorado in the Fall of 2017 and shortly after purchased bluerub from the founder.
Dave continues to tele and skate-ski, trail run, and mountain bike. In 2020 Dave is training for his first triathalon.

Favorite quote: “A life that continues to remain on the safe side of its own habits and repetitions, that never engages with the risk of its own possibility, remains an unlived life. There is within each heart a hidden voice that calls out for freedom and creativity. We often linger for years in spaces that are too small and shabby for the grandeur of our spirit”
Growing up, Val played competitive softball, ran cross country, fished, hiked, kayaked, and dabbled in rock climbing and golf. In 2010 she was diagnosed with a tumor growing on her sciatic nerve and after that surgery, now has limited mobility, but still moves and engages in the world around her. She snorkels, walks, travels, and practices Thai Chi and yoga to combat chronic pain and to maximize her ability to keep moving.
Val supports Girls’ Inc, Seattle Girls School, Special Olympics, and the National Parks Foundation.
She lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband and her dog.

Favorite quote: “I want to be in the arena. I want to be brave with my life. And when we make the choice to dare greatly, we sign up to get our asses kicked. We can choose courage or we can choose comfort, but we can’t have both. Not at the same time.” - Brene Brown
